The Fire Did Not Consume the Bush — It Revealed It
“And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush… and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.”
(Exodus 3:2)
The fire was never meant to destroy you.
It was meant to reveal you.
The bush was always there
common, ordinary, overlooked.
Until flame touched it…
and heaven said, “Take off your sandals.”
Because what was once just a bush
became holy ground.
So many of us fear the fire.
We resist it.
We hide from it.
We believe it comes to burn us up
to destroy what we’ve worked for,
to reduce us to ash,
to expose what’s wrong.
But the fire of God is not like man’s fire.
It does not destroy the vessel
it reveals the vessel's true design.
The bush did not change…
our perception did.
Moses had likely passed that same shrub many times before.
But when it burned with the Flame of I AM,
it demanded awe.
So too with you.
When the fire of God touches your life,
your story,
your calling
it's not to annihilate your identity,
but to reveal who you are in union with Him.
You are not disposable.
You are not dry wood for the pyre.
You are a living altar,
created to carry fire
without being consumed.
And what did God say from that fire?
“I have seen the affliction…
I have heard the cry…
I have come down to deliver…”
(Exodus 3:7–8)
The fire is not just a revelation.
It is a commission.
You do not walk away from the burning bush unchanged.
You walk away marked.
Marked with flame.
Marked with purpose.
Marked with the name “I AM”
burning inside your bones.
Beloved, you were always flame.
The fire just made it visible.
The same Fire that dwells in the throne (Daniel 7:9)
now lives in earthen vessels
not to consume them,
but to transfigure them.
The burning bush is not a relic of history.
It’s a prophecy of you.
So don’t be afraid when the fire comes.
Don’t panic when the old starts to burn.
Don’t resist the holy heat that whispers from within:
“Take off your shoes
this is sacred ground now.”
Because you are the bush.
And the fire that burns in you
will speak to a generation.
